Class: BIOL 124
For this assignment we were required to watch two videos about the human activities that threaten biodiversity and then conduct my own research of the threatening human activities and write a paper on the issues it causes. I am most proud of my writing skills and how each time I write a scientific paper my skills improve. Now I know how to use the UH library efficiently and how to take proper notes on the subject. I am also improving knowing how to create citations and create my reference page more effectively.
The most difficult part of this assignment was having enough time to write and revise my assignment. We had limited time to complete the assignment and I didn’t have enough time for multiple people to read over my paper. Which means my revision isn’t as good as it can be. To improve my work next time I will start on it before the school week begins. Usually my teacher assigns the work over the weekend so for future assignments I will start them on Sunday so that I have enough time to research, write, have my peers read over, and revise my work. If I was to start this project over I would choose to talk about overgrowth of bamboo. Maui’s biodiversity has been threatened by overgrowth of bamboo for so long and it needs to be cut down.
This assignment relates to the different scientific papers I have written and the many more scientific papers I will be writing in the future. I plan to write many more scientific papers to hone my writing, researching and conduction of research skills to become better. I enjoy this type of work and I know with my future career and path to my future career it will be required to become better.
This project relates to the twenty-first century skill of self-directional skills because throughout this assignment I am required to work on my own, find my own reliable sources, prove my information is correct, manage my time wisely, revise my paper multiple times so that my paper is overall coherent.
