The Fanzine assignment was created because we are reading the book Perks to be a Wallflower in English and the main character created a fanzine. A fanzine is basically a magazine but it is created by a person or group or fans about something or someone; it connects a lot of people together by showing each other what they both enjoy. We were assigned to create our fanzine about anything we want that's school appropriate. I choose a teenage lifestyle but mostly what I like as a teen.
I would relate this project to the twenty-first century skill, global awareness. This addresses global awareness because I am showing different parts of the world I enjoy and putting it into a magazine to show others and open their horizons.
I am most proud of how I came up with the idea of putting clear tape over the pages for a golly finish. Personally it really makes my fanzine actually look like one and not some junk created by a student because they had to. I also really enjoy what I added into the pages. For example, the comic page is quite fun.
Throughout the entirety of this project I was constantly working on improving my global awareness skills by learning/going in depth of these things I already knew I liked. I have learned more about their backgrounds and the differences gaining more knowledge about our lives and earth itself. With this understanding I am able to show it to others.
The most difficult part about this project was choosing the layout of the order of the topics. I wanted the pages to flow together. I didn’t want something insightful to go straight into something less intelligent. In the end I was successful.
If I was to do this project again I wouldn’t change my fanzine. I like it and I spent a lot of time and hard work making it exactly as I imagined it. I would though create others because I still have so many more things to add.
All of my past mistakes and wisdom really applied to this project. Everything I know about has gone into this project. I basically took all the knowledge I hold and dumped it into a magazine. If I was to relate to only one thing it would be how I am so glad I have taken the time throughout my years to learn about the little things in life. Here I am using that information for a school project.
Applying this to future learning it would be printers, glue sticks, magazine cutouts, tape and scissors are your best friend when it comes to creating a fanzine. And maybe in the future I will want to do this again but next time with friends.
