This project was assigned by Mrs. Ford, who is my community engagement teacher. For this project we were required to create an educational video for HARF about dogs. We choose to do our video on a dog's body language which is basically what a dog is trying to tell you and how you should respond.
This project addresses the 21st century skill of Civic Literacy and Engagement, this is because we are creating a video for a non-profit organization (HARF) and we are using that video to engage with our communities to inform younger children about how to safely approach a dog and what their body language is saying. I am most proud that we finished in time. Since this project was very time crunched I am quite surprised and relieved that the video was done and edited by the due date. I am also proud of how well of a team we all worked together. Sua, Claire Maya and I really clicked and understood all of the needs from each other to make sure we would be able to work at our best. While working on this assignment I was able to improve my civic literacy and engagement 21st century skills by being able to work with others in a team to help improve our community. I improved because we worked in a social environment with HARF. The most difficult part of our process was having the time to film. Since there were so many videos that needed to be made in such little time of each class we all had to collectavity make room for each other so It would get done. This project took a lot of time management and team skills to finish. If we were to do this project again we would find a different place to film, I think the video would look alot better if we were outside. I am positive that being outside to film the video would bring everything together and would make it easier for the dog, that way he would have been more comfortable. This relates to my presentation projects of the past, and projects that required team effort. Working with others within your group and not were key factors of accomplishing our goals to create our video on a dog’s body language. It was also necessary for us to be able to talk in front of a camera and remember our lines, which relates to my past presentation skills. This project demonstrates my ability to work efficiently with my teammates which I will then apply to future projects and assignments that will require my social, presentation and civic literacy and engagement skills. |
